Sol y Luna Relais Chateaux

Sol y Luna is a property with a true heart and soul. Starting out as a dream that the owners, a French-Swiss couple Petit and Franz, had to create a property that could generate an income to support the Sol y Luna Foundation.

This initiative offers education and inclusion to the children of the Sacred Valley.  The hotel is the main sponsor of three projects: the Intercultural School, the Center for differently-abled children and the Home for abandoned children.

This intimate Relais & Chateaux hotel is surrounded by the Andes and an exquisite garden. Regional architecture inspired the design of the clay and stone ‘casitas’ (little houses), each decorated with murals by local artist Federico Bauer. World-class cuisine featuring the finest organic ingredients from local farmers is served in its two restaurants. The hotel was one of the first properties in the Sacred Valley, though it continuously innovates and is still run by its owners.

Breakdown of accommodation:

  • Casitas Superior (28): 12 matrimonial, 11 TWIN, 5 family (1 king-size bed & 2  beds distributed in 2 levels)
  • Casitas Deluxe (10): 5 matrimonial, 5 TWIN
  • Casitas Premium (5):  3 matrimonial, 2 TWIN

Our Tips

  • Plan at least 2 nights at this property. At the end of a day of exploration, you can relax at the spa or simply linger in the lounge area with heated pool surrounded by gardens full of flowers, and home to more than 35 species of local birds. Guests enjoy complimentary access to the gym and Jacuzzi.
  • Casitas Deluxe and Premium are almost similar in area, the main difference is the outdoor whirlpool that the Premium has in the outdoor terrace and the independent living room.
  • Sol y Luna has a pizza night for families of minimum 4 with kids (up to 12 years). If you want to celebrate a special occasion in an intimate setting there is a 5-course tasting menu with wine pairing offered in the hotel’s cellar.
  • The ‘CusiWasi’ theatrical performance focusing on the Andean deities and the acrobatic circus show can be arranged for small groups looking for a 'wow' moment.
  • If you don’t have the chance to include nights at the hotel plan a hearty BBQ lunch at the hotel’s restaurant Wayra. Every day at noon Wayra offers a Peruvian Paso horse show – a longstanding tradition in the country. The horses come from the hotel’s own stable.
  • Half- or full-day rides through the valley can be arranged for guests interested in equestrian travel.
