The Carménère is the only completely eco-hotel in Chile and is proud to be 100% sustainable. They produce their own electricity for the hotel by means of solar panels and use biodegradable cleaning products amongst other important environmental practices.

Run by its owner, who has a clear vision and aims to offer a very personalized stay, this small boutique combines rustic charm and modern comforts with an authentic glimpse of Chilean culture (ask about the décor made by different Chilean artisans that you can find scattered throughout the property)

Located within walking distance of charming ‘Barrio Italia’ in a quiet street in Providencia neighborhood making it a peaceful oasis in the midst of the bustling metropolis. Each of the 5 rooms, similar in regard to facilities, are named in celebration of five of the most emblematic Chilean wine valleys (also featuring some wine bottles from the respective valley). There is 1 deluxe (Curico Valley room with a terrace to the hotel’s garden), 2 superior (Aconcagua Valley and Colchagua, both in the 2nd floor, facing the garden) and 2 standard rooms (Maipo Valley and Casablanca Valley, both too in the 2nd floor facing the street).

The welcome drink (a glass of wine) may be enjoyed in the underground wine cellar or in the garden. The cellar’s selection boasts fine wines from boutique wineries (known personally by the hotel owner), and that one can not find at any local supermarket.

For every room, there is an iPad with WiFi which you can take with you during your stay and is filled with lots of information and tips about Santiago.
You will feel right at home from the very first second that you enter the property, and because of its cozy interior, intimate setting and excellent 24-hour service.

• Our recommendation for honeymooners (King bed) is the Curico Valley room complete with a small terrace and access to the hotel’s garden.
• Consider some time to self-explore ‘Barrio Italia’ (Settled by Italian immigrants in the 19th century, this particular quarter is carving out a new reputation for itself, filled with beautiful furniture and crafts, art galleries, boutique cafés and antique bargains).
• If you prefer light snacks over dinner, ask the hotel’s concierge, he can organize a wonderful light (and healthy) meal for you to be eaten either in the garden or the living room/breakfast room.
• Bring your water bottle along with you as there is a 24/7 coffee station where you can not only refill your bottle but also get tea, fruits and some pastries.
