Explora Sacred Valley

This adventure-oriented hotel is located in a former hacienda and has spacious rooms that look out onto Inca terraces, corn and quinoa fields and even a part of the Andes Mountain range.

Your all-inclusive stay gives you access to 40 outdoor excursions to 'classic' attractions as Moray, Maras, Pisaq terraces, but also off-the-beaten-path bike rides and hikes. The favorite among our customers is definitely the hike to the 'Five Lagoons'.

After a long day out exploring, you can come back to the hotel and sip on a pisco sours. Alternatively you may relax at the property’s 17th-century manor-turned-spa. The 'Pumacahua Bath House' is a true piece of Peruvian history that has been lovingly restored. It features a treatment room, lounging terrace and steam room.

Each room has stunning views of the Andes and cornfields made possible by the panoramic windows that seem to bring nature into your living space. You won't find any TVs inside the rooms, and WiFi signal is pretty much only available in the common areas. This is done in a move to take you out of the busy life of mobile and media and allow you to reconnect with nature and other guests of the hotel.

When it comes to food, you will be happy to know that the hotel includes this in the rate. From buffet breakfast to packed lunches down to delicious dinners, the only thing you will have to worry about when staying at Explora Sacred Valley is what excursions you would like to do for the coming days. The rest you can leave up to them.

Our Tips

  • The rainy season in Cusco & the Sacred Valley starts from the end of November and normally ends in March. If you are an avid photographer, we recommend that you book your travel dates between April & May, which is springtime in the Andes.
  • The minimum stay that we recommend at Explora is 3 nights as that allows for one full- and one half-day exploration (if you are coping well with the altitude in the Sacred Valley on your day of arrival, there are some soft activities on the menu).
  • The excursion to Machu Picchu can be booked with Explora or through us. The pro in booking it through us is that you can be certain that you will get your own guide and be able to explore the citadel at your own pace.
  • Take your favorite book with you. The common areas with views of the surrounding corn fields are perfect for concentrated and inspirational reading. One of our highly recommended books for any trip to Peru has to be: ‘Exploring Cusco by Peter Frost’, be sure to check it out.
