Embark on an unforgettable 10-day journey through Peru, starting in the colonial city of Lima where you'll explore the city's charm by riding public transportation and sampling local snacks. From there, you'll travel to the mesmerizing landscapes of Sacred Valley where you'll visit one of the region's largest handicraft markets and try stand-up paddling at Huaypo Lagoon. You'll then head to the enigmatic citadel of Machu Picchu before concluding your adventure with an all-inclusive stay at a unique lodge in the lush Peruvian Amazon Jungle.
Welcome to Lima, known as 'The City of the Kings'! Upon arrival, you will be privately transferred to your hotel (Early check-in is not included).
Explore Lima from a different perspective – by public transportation! Your guide will meet you at the Setours office in Lima to take the ‘metropolitano’. The modern bus system links different districts in Lima. Get off at the Colmena Station to head to Plaza San Martin featuring the legendary Hotel Bolivar, the Club Nacional, and the Colon Theater. You then wander along Jr. de la Union featuring ‘Casa Courret’ Lima’s oldest photography studio in an eclectic Art Nouveau style, but also Casa Welch once considered as the Limenian Harrods of the 20th century. You will also see one of the country’s finest Baroque buildings, San Pedro Church, built by the Jesuits in 1638.
Feel like you are back in time at the bar of Hotel Maury, once one of the most exclusive properties in the last century, a 3* hotel, but still a must-see in the historic center. It is supposed that the legendary Pisco Sour cocktail was invented here. All this walking is rewarded with a can’t-miss local snack. Enjoy a mouthwatering traditional chicharron sandwich at El Chinito before hopping back on the metropolitano to get back to Miraflores.
Afternoon at leisure to explore the city at your pace.
This tour is offered for participants staying at hotels close to one of the metropolitan stations. An ID is compulsory to enter the Museum of the Central Bank.
In the morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cusco (flight not included). Upon arrival, you will be picked up and transferred to the Sacred Valley.
On the way there, start by exploring the vibrant Pisaq market in the Sacred Valley. Originally, a place where people from remote communities used to barter their products, Pisaq has evolved into one of South America's most famous souvenir markets. Make sure to sample some 'empanadas' baked in traditional clay ovens.
Shortly after, the ruins of Pisaq await, which are set high above a valley by patterned fields and rimmed by vast terracing, the stonework, and panoramas at Pisaq's Inca citadel are magnificent. In the main ruins, you will find temples of the sun, moon, rain, rainbow, and stars, as well as a few Inca, crosses rising from the ground.
Arrive at your hotel in the Sacred Valley for the evening.
Discover the Andes from a unique perspective, on a Stand-Up Paddle Board (SUP). After your pickup, you will be transferred to the picturesque Huaypo lake, away from the frequently traveled routes. Upon arrival, you will enjoy a welcome drink before receiving a safety briefing on how to paddle as well as instructions on how to use the necessary equipment. Your guide will help you warm up on shore before you head for the lake. Enjoy the fresh air as you take in the breathtaking views of the Andes reflecting off the lake’s crystal-clear waters. Paddle around the lake and take in the beautiful scenery at your leisure, you might even spot some fishermen with their totora reed boats.
