Your overnight adventure on Titicaca Lake starts in the morning as you board a small boat. Your first visit is Taquile, a traditional weaver’s island. The backdrop of the snowcapped Cordillera Real ensures an amazing background for your photos. After learning about the important Peruvian weaving traditions and taking in the spectacular views and the fresh air, you board your boat and head to Luquina Chico for a delicious Andean lunch served in the community’s restaurant ‘La Casa del Pescador’ (The Fisherman House). After lunch, get to know your host, a local family. Take in the breathtaking views as you hike along the shores of Lake Titicaca in the afternoon. For those who would like a more hands-on experience, why not join your host as he casts his fishing net? In the evening, enjoy the chance for a unique cultural exchange at dinner time with your host family.
After breakfast, take advantage of the rest of the morning to try out one of the activities that the community offers (at additional cost) such as kayaking, biking, or sailing. On your way back to Puno, you will get to make an exciting stop at the Uros floating islands. Learn about the community’s way of life and interact with the locals who live interwoven with the 'totora' reed which grows abundantly in the shallows of the lake.
You will be picked up at your hotel in Puno. The boat ride from Puno to Taquile takes about 1.5-3 hours and the boat ride from Taquile to Luquina takes about 1-2 hours.
